Dimensions

  • Print size: 35 x 45 mm, width x height, without borders.
  • Quantity: Two identical color photos taken within the last six months.
  • Reference pixels: 413 x 531 px at approximately 300 DPI; these are a print-size reference, not an official digital upload requirement.
  • Submission: Complete the online visa application, print and sign it, and submit the photos with the required documents to the overseas mission.
  • File constraints: The reviewed tourism instructions do not publish an upload format or byte limit. This guide does not cover Taiwan eVisa uploads.

Head position

  • The mission's tourism photo guidance specifies 32–36 mm from chin to crown within the 45 mm-high frame, approximately 71%–80% of its height.
  • Show a centered, full frontal face and the top of the shoulders, with the head upright.
  • The positioning diagram's eye-line band is framing guidance; the reviewed sources do not publish a numerical eye-line requirement.

Background

Use a plain white background with even lighting and no distracting shadows. Take the original photo against a suitable background rather than replacing it digitally.

Expression

Look directly at the camera with both eyes open, a neutral expression and a closed mouth. The official mission checklist allows an exception for applicants unable to close their mouths. Keep natural skin tone and suitable brightness and contrast at capture.

Accessories

  • Clear glasses must leave the eyes visible, without glare, reflections or frames obscuring them.
  • Tinted lenses are not allowed except for the visually disabled under the mission guidance.
  • Hats and headgear are not allowed except for religious reasons. Keep the face visible and follow the instructions of the mission processing the application.

Other rules

Official tourism visa guidance prohibits digital alteration; another mission checklist also rejects composite, selfie and altered photos. SpecSnap shows these requirements but does not generate, enhance, replace the background of, or export edited photos for this document. An original-preserving checker is not available. Automated acceptance or an authority approval is not implied.

Notes

This is the tourism visitor visa print route, distinct from Taiwan passport, resident visa and eVisa requirements. Current BOCA tourism instructions specify 35 x 45 mm; do not substitute the 2 x 2 inch size on older general visa guidance. Check the overseas mission's current application checklist for any additional conditions before submitting.
