Note: AA Singapore online application; photo within 2 years; plain light background; submit a clean JPG, not the watermarked preview

Dimensions

  • Online portrait: 400 x 514 px, uploaded vertically.
  • Use a JPG/JPEG. The current form also accepts PNG, but AA's main guidance asks for JPG.
  • The live form's upload validator sets a 2 MB maximum (2 * 1024 * 1024 bytes). No minimum byte size is published.
  • This online preset does not provide print sheets.

Head position

Show the entire face clearly. The app's 70%–80% head-height and 50%–60% eye-line bands are framing guidance; AA does not publish these numerical limits.

Background

Use a plain, light-coloured background. This preset uses white (#FFFFFF).

Expression

Keep your face clear and look towards the camera. The app uses standard pose and eye checks; AA does not publish numerical expression thresholds.

Accessories

Keep the full face visible. The checked guidance does not specify separate glasses or head-covering rules; follow any additional instructions in your application.

Other rules

Use a clear colour portrait taken within 2 years. Do not upload a watermarked image or extract the portrait from a passport, NRIC or driving licence. Submit a clean export, not the watermarked preview.

Notes

This covers AA Singapore's online IDP application, not the domestic driving licence. Walk-in applicants are photographed on site. The form's separate 800 x 600 px rule concerns supporting identity documents, not this portrait.

Retain a natural likeness. The checked guidance gives no comprehensive editing policy; app processing does not guarantee acceptance.

Sources

Can I wear glasses in the IDP photo?

AA requires the whole face to be clear. The checked guidance does not give a separate glasses rule; avoid glare or obstruction and follow the application instructions.

Does AA publish a head-covering rule?

The checked IDP guidance does not give a separate rule. Keep your whole face visible and check any additional instructions in your application.

What expression should I use?

Keep a natural, clear, front-facing appearance. The app uses basic pose and eye checks, not a separately published AA expression threshold.

How recent must my photo be?

Use a colour photo taken within 2 years. Do not take the portrait from an existing identity document or submit a watermarked image.

What file should I upload for the online IDP application?

Use a clean 400 x 514 px vertical JPG, no larger than 2 MB. The current form also accepts PNG. Do not submit the watermarked preview. Walk-in applicants have their photos taken on site.

The same checks the authority will run — before you submit.

  • Face height & eye line measured from the pupil midpoint with sub-pixel accuracy, clamped to the tolerance range your authority publishes.
  • Background colour checked across a sampled grid — catches gradients and fringe from poor segmentation (ΔE < 3 against spec).
  • File-size ceiling enforced per-spec — recompressed silently for sub-60 KB e-visa portals, lossless for print.
  • Sharpness & expression guards warn on blur, closed eyes, or non-neutral expressions before you export.
