Overview

SpecSnap supports one Mexico preset: Visa. It outputs a 2 × 2 in square (51 × 51 mm), 600 × 600 px, on white. That square matches an option listed by some Mexican consular posts, including Boston, but visa-photo size is not centrally standardized across posts.

Other posts specify smaller rectangular sizes, such as the 32 × 26 mm to 39 × 31 mm range, and may not accept the square. Check the handling consulate’s checklist before using the preset. The shared guidance is a recent color photo, full face looking forward, white background, and no glasses. Some posts specify a photo no more than 30 days old.

The preset uses JPEG with a 2 MB ceiling. This is its output budget, not a guarantee that every consulate uses the same digital limit. Use an evenly lit, unaltered photo without shadows or background objects.

  • Mexican consulates — publish the visa-photo size and submission checklist for the handling post.

Frequently asked questions

How many Mexico photo presets does SpecSnap support?

One: Visa, using a 2 × 2 in square output. It does not cover every size accepted by every Mexican consular post.

What size is a Mexican visa photo?

It depends on the consulate. Some list 2 × 2 in (51 × 51 mm), which matches the 600 × 600 px preset; others specify smaller rectangular dimensions. Check the handling post’s checklist.

Can I reuse a U.S.-size square photo for a Mexican visa?

Only if the Mexican consulate accepts the 2 × 2 in size and the photo also meets its recency, no-glasses, background, and submission rules. A square can be rejected by posts that specify a smaller rectangle.

What is the most important Mexico-specific size rule?

Size varies by consular post. The square preset is an option for posts that list it, rather than a universal Mexican visa format.

What should I check before submitting?

Confirm the handling consulate’s size and recency rules, remove glasses, and use a recent front-facing color photo on plain white. Avoid shadows, filters, and facial retouching.
