Overview
SpecSnap's China Visa preset prepares a digital JPEG at 354 × 472 px, within the MFA's published digital bounds of 354–420 px wide and 472–560 px high. The encoded file must fit 40–120 KB. Its 3:4 crop is distinct from the separate 33 × 48 mm paper-photo format, so this preset does not offer print sheets. Check your visa office's current checklist for any paper photo and required quantity.
Use a recent colour photo, taken within six months, with white or near-white background, natural skin tone, neutral expression and clearly visible eyes, face and ears. Clear glasses may be worn if tint, frames, shadows and glare do not obscure the eyes. The MFA's digital and paper positioning references differ; the app's face/eye percentage targets do not cover every official measurement.
Online submission does not mean every stage happens online. The current US embassy guide describes online preliminary review followed by passport submission, and allows portal dragging/cropping. It also describes a paper-photo fallback after repeated failed upload checks. Follow the mission handling your application; procedures and print requirements can differ. Preserve the original photo and use the portal's check. SpecSnap does not guarantee acceptance or imply permission to retouch facial identity.

Frequently asked questions
Which China photo preset does SpecSnap offer?
One digital Visa upload preset. It prepares a JPEG, not a 33 × 48 mm paper photo or an on-site capture service.
What size is the China digital visa photo?
SpecSnap outputs 354 × 472 px. The official digital bounds are 354–420 px wide and 472–560 px high, with a JPEG file size of 40–120 KB. Check your current portal instructions.
Can I print the digital file as a 33 × 48 mm photo?
Do not stretch the 3:4 digital crop into the differently proportioned paper format. Print sheets are unavailable for this preset. Follow the separate paper specification if your mission requires a print.
Is a paper photo still required after online upload?
Follow your mission’s checklist. The reviewed US embassy guide describes bringing a standard ID photo after repeated failed online photo checks; do not assume the same fallback or paper-photo count applies everywhere.
What should I check before uploading?
Check the digital dimensions, JPEG range, six-month recency and natural appearance with a white or near-white background. Use the portal’s photo check. App crop percentages do not verify every official positioning or appearance requirement.
