Privacy Policy

SpecSnap (“the App”) is developed by an independent developer. This policy explains how the App handles your information.

Photos and Image Processing

All photo processing — face detection, background removal, cropping, and export — happens entirely on your device. Your photos are never uploaded to any server. The App does not transmit, store, or have access to your photos outside of your device.

Face Data

To generate ID photos, the App uses Google ML Kit’s on-device face detection to measure where the face appears in your photo. Specifically, it extracts:

The App does not create face embeddings, perform face recognition, or extract any biometric identifier. The measurements above are geometric coordinates and quality signals, not a fingerprint of your face.

Processing location. All face detection runs on your device using on-device ML models. Face data is never transmitted to any server, and is never shared with any third party.

Retention.Face measurements exist only in memory while you are editing a photo and are discarded when you close or leave the app. The final cropped photo may be saved to the App’s local photo history (up to 10 photos; older unpaid photos are automatically removed). You can delete any photo from the History screen at any time, or uninstall the App to remove all stored data.

Data We Collect

The App itself does not collect personal data. Specifically:

In-App Purchases

The App offers in-app purchases processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). Payment information is handled entirely by Apple or Google — the App does not collect, store, or have access to your payment details. Please refer to Apple’s Privacy Policy or Google’s Privacy Policy for how they handle payment data.

Camera and Photo Library Access

The App requests access to your camera and photo library solely to capture or select photos for ID photo generation. These permissions are used only when you initiate the action (taking a photo or choosing from your gallery). The App does not access your camera or photo library in the background.

Children’s Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since the App does not collect personal data from any user, no special provisions are necessary. Parents or guardians may use the App to create ID photos for their children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
